Weight and Wellness Program
Our Weight and Wellness Program for bariatric surgery patients is composed of a multifaceted team of healthcare professionals that understand there is more to sustained weight loss than just the surgical procedure. Indeed, long-term weight loss involves behavior modification through lifestyle changes including diet and exercise. Further, support from professionals such as endocrinologists, nutritionists and more is key to losing weight and keeping it off. It is the support that our program offers that differentiates us from many other weight loss programs. From medically supervised low calorie diets to education and long-term follow-up, bariatric patients develop the tools they need to maintain a new, lower weight and achieve their goals.
The weight and wellness program begins with a comprehensive review of lifestyle changes, diet and exercise habits shortly after surgery. Along with our nutritionist and endocrinologist, patients will be evaluated, either as part of or in addition to their regular check-ups. Patients then begin a regimen of nutritional supplements and, in some cases, prepackaged entrees to assist with weight loss. During this time, patients will participate in weight loss and maintenance education.
Over the longer-term, patients may participate in up to 18 months of additional weight management classes that reinforce good habits and offer an all-important foundation of support.
Our weight and wellness program is coordinated by Dr. Raymond G. Lau.
